KangHee Kim – Streets Errands

South Korean photographer portraits in every image a poetically surreal story. In a Forbes’ interview, the artist admits that the surrealism implied in her photos of NY works as a reality escape – surreal escapism – and that the famous German photographer Wofgang Tillmans is a big inspiration of hers.

An artistic particularity of KangHee Kim is her subtleness while representing what there is of surreal in each photograph, sometimes is just a small detail, a reflection or a luminosity that goes against physics. Something worth mentioning are the clouds, also referred in Yomagick’s article, yet here they depict a reinsuring ethereal aesthetic, while using smooth colors. Thus, there is an incredibly interesting merger between earthly and atmospheric elements.
